L-arginine for muscle mass instead of Testosterone replacement with a warning for those with Herpes

We’ve often discussed the fact that many men THINK they need testosterone replacement but have normal levels; meaning they do NOT. One of the main amino acids we use to increase muscle mass is L-arginine but here’s something you should know about natural arginine in foods and l-arginine supplementation and it affects many people so feel free to pass this information along.

Herpes Simplex 1 or 2 (mouth sores or genital) is often triggered by having a ratio of L-lysine to L-arginine which favors L-arginine. Meaning; if you’re predisposed you need to watch what you eat. If you want a full list of foods, just “google it” but high arginine common foods are things like sesame seeds, peanut butter and crustaceans.

You can go out of your way to find foods with a higher lysine to arginine ratio, or you can take L-lysine supplements and just avoid very high arginine foods and certainly avoid supplementation if you have this problem.

Some of you may be on anti-viral medication and it may NOT be necessary if you just get your ratios right. Now….how many of you knew THIS? Before I was A4M boarded, I didn’t.

I see patients in Florida; mainly Vero Beach, Palm Beach, Miami Beach areas; but am so cost effective that I see lots of out of state patients who fly in once every two years and they save money and get better care in the process! I’m happy to do a phone consult for my blog-following friends so ; give a jingle if you have a question about anything. 772-559-2400.
