Thyme Essential Oil

Thyme Essential Oil Kills 97% of Prostate Cancer Cells in Vitro: The essential oil of the common herb thyme was found to kill 97% of human prostate cancer cells (PC-3) in vitro after 72 hours of treatment. This was at a concentration of just 0.025%. At only 0.01%, thyme essential oil still killed >90% of the cancer cells! Researchers tested the essential oils of ten different herbs and spices in this study, and thyme was the most powerful by far for killing cancer cells. Only jasmine and cinnamon came closely behind. Thyme essential oil has also shown activity against breast cancer, lung cancer, oral cancer and ovarian cancer. Thyme is native to the Mediterranean and was heavily used by the ancient Greeks. It's still heavily used in Mediterranean cuisine, which may help to explain the low cancer rates there. Greek men have a stunning 80% lower incidence of prostate cancer compared to American men.Thyme is used in Ayurvedic and traditional medicine owing to its strong antioxidant, anti-bacterial, and anti-fungal potently killing yeast such as Candida properties. It makes a great addition to a healthy diet focussed on organic fruits, vegetables and whole foods and can be used as a flavourful herb in cooking, or simply prepared as a tea.
